OLATHE – MidAmerica Nazarene University Director of Athletics Todd Garrett announced the hiring of Bryce McClanahan as the next Head Women’s Soccer Coach. McClanahan played soccer at MNU from 2015-2016 and was part of the National Runner-Up 2015 squad. In 2017, he returned as an assistant coach for the women’s team and helped the Pioneers to the best season in MNU history in 2018.

“As we navigated the process of filling our head women’s soccer coaching role, it was clear the very best choice was Bryce McClanahan,” Garrett said. “His experience as a highly competitive MNU student-athlete – being an integral part of a team finishing runner up in the 2015 NAIA National Championship game – coupled with his strong influence and leadership as an assistant where the women’s program completed the best season in program history are validation of his readiness to be our next leader.

“Coach McClanahan has an impeccable work ethic, a servant’s heart, a burning competitive drive, and a student-athlete first mindset making him a natural transition to lead our women’s soccer program successfully into the future. I am excited for his leadership in the years to come.”

“MNU has been an amazing place for me to grow personally and professionally over the last four years,” McClanahan said. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to be the Head Coach of the MNU Women’s Soccer Program. I am very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this program. My desire is to ensure each student-athlete knows they are valuable and will be loved and taken care of as a member of this team. My hope is this propels each person to confidently pursue excellence in every facet and make a positive impact in the community.

“As the assistant coach I was able to learn from Coach Bobby Reiss and help the team finish with the best record in program history. The future looks very bright and I am excited to give everything I have for the program.

“I would like to thank God, my wife Emily, and my family and friends for all of their guidance and support. Additionally, I would like to thank Director of Athletics, Todd Garrett, President Spittal, the entire MNU Athletic Department and the student-athletes on the MNU Women’s Soccer team.”

The 2019 MNU Women’s Soccer season opens Aug. 21 at home vs. Bellevue.
