NEW ORLEANS – Junior cross country standout Jacob Klemz made history for Washburn after being named the Division II Men’s National Athlete of the Week on Monday by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Association. This is the first time an Ichabod has achieved this honor in Washburn program history.

Klemz earned his second consecutive individual title of the season this past weekend at the Missouri Southern Stampede, finishing first in a competitive field of 277 runners. He turned in a personal-best 8K time of 24.45.4 in his victory.

He was also named the MIAA Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week after the SBU Invitational on Sept. 1, where he took first place with a 7K time of 21:45.57.
