Wichita State beat Indiana State for the ninth consecutive time and opened the Missouri Valley portion of its 2016-17 schedule successfully.
The Shockers won 80-72 on the road marking also a nine-game winning streak in Terre Haute, Ind.
Freshman Darral Willis led the way with a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double. It is a program best in scoring for a Shocker in his MVC debut.
Markis McDuffie also topped the 20-point plateau in the victory, putting in 22 on the night. The last time Shocker teammates each went for 20 in a game against an MVC foe also came against Indiana State. In the 2014 MVC Tournament Championship, Fred VanVleet scored 22, while Tekele Cotton notched 20 points.
