KANSAS CITY – 2017 NCAA National Champion and MIAA Champion Central Missouri was picked first in the 2018 MIAA Women’s Soccer Coaches Preseason poll. The Jennies received 11 first-place votes and all 121 points in the poll.
Missouri Western was tabbed second in the poll with 108 points and received one first-place vote. Last season, the Griffons qualified for the program’s first-ever NCAA Central Regional. In the third slot was Northeastern State with 98 points and Fort Hays State was picked fourth with 88 points. Central Oklahoma rounded out the top-five with 85 points.
Following UCO in the coaches poll, was Missouri Southern then Washburn. Emporia State was picked eighth and Lindenwood was slotted at ninth. Northwest Missouri came in tenth followed by Nebraska Kearney. Southwest Baptist rounded out the 2018 preseason poll.
The MIAA Women’s Soccer season kicks off with seven games on Thursday, Aug. 30 and four games on Friday, Aug. 31. Conference matches begin on Sunday, Sept. 23 with the MIAA Championship beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 31. For the complete 2018 MIAA Women’s Soccer schedule, click here.
