GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Former Friends University baseball pitcher Austin Eggleston has signed a pro contract with the Great Falls Voyagers.

The Voyagers are an independent minor league team that competes in the Pioneer League and is a member of the new Major League Baseball Partner League.

A first-team All-KCAC selection, Eggleston was tied for first in the KCAC and sixth in the NAIA in saves (nine) last year after leading the nation in the category for much of the season.

He struck out 36 batters in 2021 and recorded a team-best 3.15 ERA for the season while holding opposing hitters to just a .189 batting average.

Also a 2019 all-conference honorable-mention performer, Eggleston finished his career with 167 strikeouts, including 100 strikeouts in 2019 that ranks as the most in a single season since at least 2005.

“We’re all excited for Austin, he has the ability to do very well in pro baseball,” said Friends baseball head coach Adam Neisius.

“He had three great seasons with us and we wish him the best of luck.”
