WICHITA – The Friends University competitive cheer program will be hosting a “Day of Duels” event Friday, Jan. 24 inside the Garvey Center.

Doors will open at 6 pm, with the event set to begin at 6:30 pm.

The competition will include six competitive cheer and six competitive dance teams, featuring programs from the KCAC, Sooner Athletic Conference and the Heart of America conference, with each team being scored twice.

“We are extremely excited to open our season at home on Friday!” Friends competitive cheer head coach Jill Fenske said.

“All of these teams have been working and training for competition season to arrive- and the fact we get to start it up at home is an awesome opportunity for our team to gain confidence. It is also exciting to host a “day of duels”– a new style of scheduling for our sports. I look forward to a great event and want to invite everyone to come check out these teams and show support for all of our athletes.”
