KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following a weekend at the KCAC Meet that continued to etch her place in Friends University Track & Field lore, senior Lauren Doll has been selected as the NAIA Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office has announced.
“Lauren had an amazing weekend at the KCAC Indoor Conference meet,” Friends head coach Henry Brun said. “She competed with poise and confidence and had her sights on setting the tone for the women’s squad in winning our sixth straight team title.”
Doll came through with a historic performance in helping the Falcons capture their sixth straight KCAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field championship this past weekend at Wichita State University. In the process, Doll was named the KCAC Women’s Indoor Athlete of the Meet for the second straight season.
The Leon, Kan. native dominated the meet, winning conference championships in the Long Jump (5.66m), Triple Jump (11.75m) and 60 Hurdles (9.26) while also helping the Falcons win the KCAC title in the 4 X 400 relay (4:05.77). She was also the conference runner-up in the High Jump (1.55m).
Doll finished with 40.5 total points for the meet and hit the NAIA “A” National Qualifying standard in both the Triple Jump and Long Jump. Her 11.75m mark in the Triple Jump is ranked eighth in the NAIA, while her 5.66m Long Jump is 12th nationally.
Doll and the Falcons are now gearing up for the NAIA Meet, set for Mar. 5-7 in Brookings, S.D.
“I think this meet was the perfect tune-up for her to succeed in the upcoming National Championship meet,” Brun said. “With her mind and body ready, she has aspirations to score some quality points for our team as we look to have a Top five finish at Nationals.”
