KANSAS CITY – Eleven Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association legends have been elected to the MIAA Hall of Fame Class of 2018, the conference office announced today.
The Hall of Fame induction will be at the MIAA Awards Ceremony presented by Husch Blackwell, held on June 4, 2018, in the Truman Forum Auditorium at the Kansas City Public Library – Plaza Branch, 4801 Main Street in Kansas City, Mo. Reservations for the event are available by visiting www.themiaa.com/sb_output.aspx?form=4 and filling out the form. Reservations will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis.

Shawn Callahan, Baseball Athlete
Central Missouri, 2004-05
Callahan was the 2005 National, Regional, and MIAA Position Player of the Year. He also earned first-team All-American honors after hitting .426 with 18 homers and 86 RBI as a shortstop. During his two seasons with UCM, the Mules went 114-17 overall while winning two MIAA Championships and two Regional titles. The Holden, Mo. product ranks among the single-season leaders in hits, runs, home runs, and RBI.
Drew Frizzell, Men’s Track & Field Athlete
Central Missouri, 2008-11
He was a two-time National Champion for Mules Track & Field, winning the hammer throw and the indoor weight throw in 2009. Frizzell was a 17-time All-American, the most All-America honors in UCM Track & Field history, earning All-America honors in indoor weight throw and shot put, outdoor shot put, discus and the hammer throw. He ranks first all-time at UCM in the indoor weight throw (71-9) second in the hammer throw hammer throw (220-10), third in outdoor shot put (58-10) and fourth in indoor shot put (58-6.75) and discus (178-4).
Oscar Gonzalez, Men’s Basketball Athlete
Pittsburg State, 1996-99
Gonzalez twice earned NCAA Division II All-America honors. Gonzalez started all 119 career games at point guard, scoring 1,482 points and setting the school record with 592 career assists. He was voted the MIAA Most Valuable Player as a senior in 1999, helping Pitt State to its first conference title in a quarter century as well as the No. 1 ranking in Division II that season. Gonzalez earned All-MIAA honors all four seasons for the Gorillas, guiding PSU to NCAA postseason appearances from 1997-99, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 1997.
Brian Hutchins, Football Athlete
Pittsburg State, 1990-93
Hutchins, a three-year starter at quarterback, led the Pittsburg State football program to consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division II National Championship game in 1991-92, 25 consecutive victories as well as the 1991 NCAA Division II National Championship. As a junior, he guided the Gorillas to a repeat MIAA title and 14 consecutive wins. Hutchins earned All-America honors as a junior in 1992 and he finished his career as a two-time All-MIAA performer. He compiled a 27-5 record as PSU’s starting quarterback, winning 84.4 percent of his games under center. Hutchins rushed for 2,007 career yards and passed for 3,053 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Richard Jordan, Football Athlete
Missouri Southern, 1993-96
Jordan was a four-year letterwinner and a three-year All-American with the Lions in 1993-96. He earned All-MIAA honors all four years with the Lions, including first-team accolades over his final three seasons. Jordan shared MIAA Defensive MVP honors in 1995 and won it outright in 1996. A native of Vian, Okla., he ranks second all-time in MSSU history with 406 career tackles and 20 career sacks. His 136 tackles in 1996 led the team and was the fourth-highest single-season total in Southern history. Jordan had eight sacks in 1995, tied for the second-most in club history.
Trey Lewis, Football Athlete
Washburn, 2003-06
Lewis recorded 62 tackles during his senior season with 36 solo stops while he recorded 10 tackles for loss and four sacks for 25 yards. He also had a forced fumble with two pass break ups and a blocked field goal attempt. Lewis gained the 2006 MIAA’s Defensive MVP and was named a unanimous first team All-MIAA selection as a senior in 2006. Lewis finished his career at Washburn with 156 total tackles, including 68 solo stops, 23 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. He also helped the Ichabods to their first MIAA Championship in football.
Xavier Omon, Football Athlete
Northwest Missouri, 2004-07
Omon is currently the MIAA career rushing leader after finishing with 7,073 yards. He leads the MIAA record books for season rush attempts (370 in 2007) and career rush attempts (1,271). Omon also holds the second position for MIAA single season rushing yards with 2,337 in 2007, as well as the all-time scorer with 590 points and the single season scoring mark of 228 points in 2007. He also holds 32 of the Bearcats’ 34 records for rushing and scoring. Omon was a three-time First Team All-MIAA selection, while helping the Bearcats claim two MIAA titles and make three appearances in the national title game.
Yasmine Osborn, Women’s Tennis Athlete
Northwest Missouri, 1997-99
The Lenexa, Kan., native earned All-American status in 1998 and won the MIAA No. 1 singles championship in 1997 and 1998 before taking second in 1999, when she suffered an injury in the championship match. Posting 27 singles wins and 28 doubles victories as a sophomore in 1997, Osborn was an All-American in 1998 after winning 22 singles matches. The Bearcats advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament in each of the three seasons she played.
Becky Reichard, Women’s Basketball Athlete
Missouri S&T, 1996-97 and Missouri Western, 1998-99
Reichard was a two-time NCAA Division II All-American at Missouri Western (1998-99). Reichard also garnered All-MIAA honors all four seasons (1996-99) and was named the MIAA Freshman of the Year in 1996. Reichard finished her career as the MIAA’s all-time leading scorer with 2,159 points (she still ranks 2nd on the league’s all-time scoring list). During her final two collegiate seasons at MWSU, she made 156 3-pointers and scored 1,251 points. Her 19.8 point scoring average is the highest in MWSU history.
Katie Tarka, Volleyball Athlete
Central Missouri, 2003-06
Tarka was a three-time All-American and four-time All-MIAA and All-Region selection, including three years as a first team All-MIAA selection. She is the UCM and MIAA career leader in digs with 3,016 and single-season leader with 902 as a senior in 2006. She earned seven different all-region honors, was named to two NCAA Regional All-Tournament teams, earned three Jennies Defensive MVP awards, and was named team MVP as a senior.
Lamonte Pruitt, Men’s Basketball Athlete (LEGACY Inductee)
Lincoln, 1970-74
Pruitt was an All-MIAA first team selection for three seasons and a two-time MIAA Player of the Year (1971-72 and 1972-73). He led the MIAA in scoring in 1972-73 (684 points, 20.5 per game), and in rebounding in 1973-74 (358 rebounds, 13.8 per game), which remains a single-season record for the Blue Tigers. Pruitt is currently third all-time on Lincoln’s scoring chart with 1,825 points, and fourth all-time on Lincoln’s rebounding chart with 949 boards. He also led the Blue Tigers to an MIAA regular season championship and NCAA tournament appearance during the 1971-72 season.
