TOPEKA – Washburn Ichabod head coach Brett Ballard has announced the addition of graduate transfer Jeremy Harrell, a 6-8, 240-pound, forward from Pickens, Miss. will join the Ichabods this fall. Harrell played two seasons at McNeese State and two at Southwest Mississippi Junior College.
“I’m really excited about the versatility that Jeremy will provide us,” Ballard said. “He is 6’8 and strong and powerful enough to finish in the paint and around the rim. He also can step out and has a nice mid-range face up game along with the ability to knock down three’s. He is a humble young man that is hungry for an opportunity and will bring a good veteran presence to our team.”
During the 2020-21 season, Harrell appeared in 18 games making two starts averaging 4.2 ppg with 2.5 rpg. He hit 31 of 62 field goal attempts and was 77 percent from the free throw line averaging 10.7 minutes a game. During the 2019-20 season he scored 37 points starting two games. At McNeese State he redshirted the 2018-19 season.
Prior to joining the Cowboys, he started 26 games as a sophomore at Southwest Mississippi JC he averaged 10.7 ppg and 5.7 rpg shooting 53 percent from the field reaching double figures in 14 games and averaged 3.3 ppg and 1.6 rpg as a freshman. At Holmes County Central High School he was named the team’s offensive player of the year after averaging 17 ppg, 10 rpg and 3.3 bkpg. He is the son of Jesse and Dorothy Harrell.
