WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Washburn Golf team started the 2018-19 campaign with a bang as the Ichabods finished atop the team leader board at the Mule Invitational. The Ichabods entered day two in fourth place, but a strong day on the course shooting an even-par 280 in the final round boosted the team to first place. Washburn shot a two-day total of +5, 845.
Andrew Beckler was the top-finisher for Washburn, shooting 70, 71, and 69 to finish even-par and tied for eighth place.
Ian Trebilcock also shot 69 in the final round and tied for 10th place. He fired off rounds 70, 72, and 69 to finish +1, 211.
Blake Allen and Nathan Roy also placed in the top-20 for the Ichabods. Allen shot 70, 68, and 75 and finished +3, 213 to tie for 14th place.
Roy improved on his score from the first day and shot even-par 70 in the third round to finish +4, 214 and tied for 18th. He shot rounds of 73, 71, and 70.
Brooks Brown rounded out the scoring for Washburn. He finished strong in round three, shooting a two-above par 72 and ended the invitational +16, 226.
Griffin Mott competed as an individual at the event, shooting 71, 75, and 76 to finish +12, 222.
The individual title came down to a playoff, but Craig Stefureak of Drury finished on top shooting -7, 203.
Washburn Golf returns to the course next week, Sept. 17-18, at the Northeastern State Men’s Golf Classic in Tahlequah, Okla.
