NORTH NEWTON – The Bethel College athletic department has announced the hiring of Ashley Davis as the institution’s first head coach to lead the competitive dance program, as well as an assistant for the competitive cheer program.
“We are very fortunate to have such a quality candidate in Ashley to take our inaugural head dance position,” said Director of Athletics, Tony Hoops.
“Her head coaching experience in the KCAC will be a great asset to this new program.”
Davis had most recently led the competitive cheer and dance programs at Bethany College, helping make the Swedes known competitively in the KCAC. Her programs were also constant staples in Lindsborg through service work and community events.
“I look forward to working alongside coach Joseph Gogus to build a premier spirit program in the NAIA,” offered Davis.
Hoops noted that the hiring of Davis brought with it the “official launch of the sport of competitive dance at Bethel College for this upcoming fall.”
“This group will add to our already successful competitive cheer team and both will continue to enhance the game-day atmosphere of Thresher Athletics.”
The competitive cheer program while under the direction of Joseph Gogus has been the KCAC champion or runner-up for the past five-straight seasons, and will add another veteran coach’s presence with Davis playing a role as an assistant.
“Ashley‘s knowledge, passion for the profession, and strong connections with student-athletes really stood out,” mentioned Hoops.
“By adding a dance program and continuing to build the developed cheer program,” Davis mentioned that she is “confident we can achieve a premier program.”
Davis is a graduate of Bethany College, holding a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Marketing and Management.
“I look forward to joining the Bethel College community.”
