NORTH NEWTON – Ashley Davis, head competitive dance coach at Bethel College, has announced her resignation effective the end of December 2020.

“I appreciate the leadership and acceptance at Bethel College,” Davis said. “I always felt welcome and am thankful I was able to be a part of the Bethel College community.”

Davis was charged with leading the creation of the competitive dance program at Bethel, beginning with her hiring as head coach in June 2019. The Threshers fielded a competition team in her first year as the head coach. In the 2019-2020 season, the competitive dance team finished no lower than fifth in all five seasonal competitions, including a second-place finish at the Kansas Wesleyan Invitational.

Davis coached two NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athletes last season, while the program as a whole was designated as an NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Team with a cumulative GPA of 3.570.

“Ashley established the foundation of the inaugural Bethel College Dance program,” said Tony Hoops, Director of Athletics for Bethel College. “I am extremely grateful for the work she put into the program to make it what it is today. We look forward to building upon this foundation as it continues to grow!”

A search for her replacement will begin immediately. Coach Joseph Gogus will continue to oversee the dance program and the entire spirit program of Bethel College.
