WICHITA – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) is adding Men’s and Women’s Swimming as championship sports and announced the addition of Lincoln College (M/W), Midland University (M/W) and Olivet Nazarene University (M/W) as per-sport members, KCAC Commissioner Scott Crawford announced today.
Currently, Sterling College, Tabor College, and the University of Saint Mary have varsity programs for Men’s and Women’s Swimming teams taking the KCAC to six teams respectively per sport for the 2019-20 season. Bethel College announced its intention recently to begin Men’s and Women’s Swimming for the 2020-21 school year.
“This is truly an exciting time for the conference to add these two sports as well as to be working with our new per-sport members to make this a reality,” stated Crawford. “I would like to thank the coaches from all six programs for their continued work and support of this idea. I am grateful we were able to make this happen ahead of schedule. I would also like to thank our Board of Presidents for their continued support. I think we will all be very proud of how these rosters grow and the opportunities for additional student-athletes to have a great collegiate swimming experience.”
Ryan Bubb, Head Coach at Midland University added, “Midland University is proud to be a part of the KCAC for swimming. It is an exciting time to be a swim team in the NAIA with the tremendous growth we have had over the past couple of years. I know the KCAC is committed to helping continue to build and grow the sport of swimming by creating a swimming conference right here in the Midwest. A special thank you to Dr. Scott Crawford and the KCAC board for working as hard as they have to help provide these swimmers with the opportunity they deserve; A conference championship.”
The inaugural KCAC Swimming Championships will take place in Fremont, Neb. at the Dillon Family Aquatics Center on Feb. 6-8, 2020. The NAIA National Swimming and Diving Championships will be March 4-7. 2020 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The KCAC will sponsor twenty-four other varsity sports in the 2019-20 school year: football, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s indoor track and field, competitive cheer, competitive dance, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s wrestling, women’s wrestling, men’s and women’s outdoor track & field, men’s and women’s golf, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s lacrosse.
