KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA had nine member institutions finish in the top 100 of the recently released 2017-18 Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings. The MIAA, once again, topped NCAA Division II Conferences with the number of universities ranked in the top 100.
“We had an outstanding 2017-18 season, highlighted by four different MIAA schools winning five National Championships. The MIAA is considered to be one of the most competitive conferences in all of Division II; to lead the division with nine schools in the top 100, speaks loudly to our overall competitiveness in every sport,” stated MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy.
The MIAA was led by Central Missouri’s 19th place finish in the Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings. Central Oklahoma, Lindenwood, Fort Hays State and Pittsburg State each ranked inside of the top 40. Missouri Southern, Lincoln, Nebraska Kearney and Northeastern State rounded out MIAA universities finishing in the top 100 of the standings.
During the 2017-18 season, Central Missouri won the Women’s Soccer and Women’s Basketball national titles. Pittsburg State claimed the Men’s Indoor Track and Field title and Lincoln captured the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field crown. Central Oklahoma capped the year off with the Women’s Rowing National Championship.
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference was tied with the MIAA while two other conferences finished with eight members in the top 100. For the complete 2017-18 Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings by conference, click here.
