Three Falcons earn opportunity to play in National Bowl

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University senior offensive lineman Mitch Butterfield, senior defensive end Tim Hamilton and senior linebacker Josh Lewis have been selected to compete in the fourth annual “FCS National Bowl”, to be held Saturday, Dec. 10 at Daytona Beach Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla., home of FCS member Bethune-Cookman.

Last season’s FCS Bowl featured 14 NFL teams and five CFL teams in attendance.

Butterfield was a unanimous first-team All-KCAC selection this season after once again helping clear the way for one of the top rushers in the league, as Noah Diaz ranked fourth in the league in rushing yards (853) despite missing three games. He is also a two-time AFCA-NAIA All-America performer for the Falcons.

Hamilton, the KCAC Defensive Player of the Year, was a wrecking machine this season in earning unanimous first-team all-conference honors. He finished tied for first in the KCAC in sacks (10) and second in tackles for loss (18).

Lewis earned first-team all-conference honors for the second straight season.  A nose for the ball, Lewis finished tied for first in the KCAC and seventh in the NAIA in forced fumbles per game (0.3). He also led the Falcons with 82 tackles on the season and recorded three sacks.

About the FCS Bowl:

The FCS Bowl is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of top players from top FCS and HBCU schools played annually at Daytona Beach Stadium in Daytona Beach, FL. The FCS Bowl showcases All-American and All Conference seniors from around the Nation that travel to the game from over 30 states representing over 100 schools. Players travel to the game from as far as Texas, Arkansas, Oregon, Colorado, Michigan, Utah, South Dakota and more.  The FCS Bowl is the elite and only current post-season all-star game scouted by the NFL and players get the opportunity to play in front of many NFL and CFL scouts and the game consistently gets 12 – 15 NFL Teams in attendance. The FCS Bowl is presented by SPIRAL / East Preps LLC and founded by owner Michael Quartey Esq., also a former NFL Agent.

Former NFL  Coach Mike Stock will return for the 4th year in a row to Head Coach the National Team while current AFL Albany Director of Football Operation Chris Thompson, will return to Head Coach the American in the 4th Annual FCS Bowl. The rosters give NFL/CFL scouts a chance to view and get to know some of the best players from smaller schools over the bowl weekend. All 32 NFL teams receive and review the FCS Bowl game and NFL Films distributes the film to all NFL Teams.
