NORTH NEWTON – The Bethel College Athletic Department is excited to announce that Thresher Stadium will be the host site for the remaining 2018 home football schedule for the Hesston High School Swathers, of Hesston, Kan.
“When we realized our field was to the point that player safety was an issue, Bethel was able to help us out in a way that has made the best out of a bad situation,” Hesston athletic director Clint Stoppel said.
“The experience of working with the Bethel staff has been a positive one for Hesston High School and just shows how good it is to work with them. It reminds me of how great the communities are represented in this situation and how they pull together in times of need.”
The Swathers will take the field at Thresher Stadium this Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. This game is their regular season home finale, and will be the team’s senior night.
“We are honored to host Hesston High School for their final football games of the season,” said Bethel athletic director Tony Hoops.
We are blessed to have one of the premier facilities in the area with our new turf and videoboard. Being able to help out a local school in a time of need is a great opportunity for both schools.”
Depending on how Hesston does in their league standings, they could potentially host playoff games on Oct. 26 and Nov. 2. Both of these games would also take place inside of Thresher Stadium, with those official announcements to be made at a later date.
“I look forward to seeing a great crowd for Hesston’s senior night festivities on Friday and then hopefully for some playoff games yet this year as well.”
